WUE UPDATE

We continue to see price increases for many of the products we sell. Transformer manufacturers are the latest to announce increases. The increases this year are the largest we have seen in the last seven years. Generally, when the economy is sluggish we see price decreases. It has been just the opposite this year.

Transformer Standardization

Our transformer standardization stocking program continues to be successful. Most of our customers participating have reduced their transformer inventory to a two-week or less supply on their shelves. If you're looking for cost savings for your organization, we encourage you to investigate our program.

Tools

We encourage you to take advantage of our tool expert, Kent Davenport. Kent is prepared to instruct your crews on proper tool safety, tool maintenance, and application.

Chance Electronic

 Sectionalizers

By Kent Davenport

To help eliminate nuisance outages and reduce operating costs, install Change Electronic Resettable Sectionalizers at the laterals. They extend coordinated range to your system's maximum available short-circuit current.

It's a simple way to improve reliability so only the fewest outages occur on only the smallest possible part of your system. That means better customer relations and revenues. One you can't buy, and the other you can't afford to lose.

Proven. Dependable. The way to protect revenue.

Not all Fiberglass Products are Created Equal

Nordic Fiberglass, Inc. strives to maintain its reputation for superior quality products, technical support, and customer service. Nordic manufactures a broad line of standard products and has capabilities for modification of standard products to meet specific customers' requirements. Before Nordic products are put on the market, they are tested to ensure reliability and safety.

All hand layup fiberglass laminates are produced of fire-retardant resin and a combination of chopped glass sprayup and hand layup using 18 ounce woven roving throughout. The woven roving forms a continuous filament from side to side and top to bottom to increase the overall integrity of Nordic sectionalizing enclosures and box pads for switchgear and three-phase transformers. This laminate application, along with reinforcing steps and ribs, makes a solid, reliable product, resistant to deflection in a buried position. Structural integrity is also evident in the enclosure mounting boards when line persons are working with junctions. Flammability tests have shown that Nordic fiberglass panels are self-extinguishing. Another safety feature is the high dielectric strength of Nordic products.

Nordic sectionalizing cabinets are available in many designs with various mounting systems featuring parking above, below, in-line, or diagonal, as well as optional junctions, grounding systems, and cable locating kits.

Call your Western United rep for more information on Nordic's products or visit their web site at www.nordicfiberglass.com.

Introduces By-Pass Switch

Type BP3 By-Pass Switch

  • 3-Pull

  • 14.4, 25 & 34.5kV

Principal Application: Recloser Maintenance

By design, the Type BP3 Switch provides an economical means for bypassing and disconnecting a pole-mounted distribution recloser. This permits de-energized periodic maintenance of the recloser without interrupting service. The BP3 Switch accomplishes this by a combination of three disconnect switches mounted on a common base. By operating the blades in proper sequence, the recloser is bypassed and isolated from the distribution system.

Rated at 600 Amps, the BP3 Switch is available in nominal ratings of 14.4kV - 110kV LIW*, 25kV - 125kV or 150kV LIW*, and 34.5kV - 150kV LIW*. All are available with either a right or left opening direction of the by-pass blade.
*LIW = Lightning Impulse Withstand
