THE SUPPLIER

Western United Leads its Membership and Customers through compliance with

"Build America, Buy America" Requirements for Federally Funded Projects

As your utility embarks on new projects supported by federal funding, we want to keep you informed about Western United’s commitment to complying with the "Build America, Buy America" Act, which emphasizes the requirement for federally funded projects to use domestically produced materials.

Our team understands the importance of these requirements and are dedicated to ensuring that our procurement processes align with federal regulations. Here’s how we will manage projects associated with "Build America, Buy America" provisions:

  1. Project Evaluation
Project Evaluation for every project receiving federal funding, our sales team will need a projected bill of material to get started. We will focus our efforts first on the higher dollar items of your project to ensure availability and BABA compliance can be met. Much of the initial leg work will be collecting the necessary certifications for your respective projects by manufacturer and part number.

  2. Supplier Selection
We will prioritize selecting vendors and suppliers who provide domestically sourced materials with proven track records of quality and reliability. This will include the use of up to 3 or more suppliers for each item within your bill of material that meet necessary BABA requirements.

  3. Documentation and Transparency
We will maintain thorough documentation to demonstrate compliance with "Buy America" standards. This includes proactively collecting BABA compliance certificates from our suppliers for each item within your respective bill of material and making this information available at any time during or after your project.

  4. Member Communication
We are committed to keeping you informed throughout the procurement process. Regular updates will be provided from your sales representative to ensure transparency regarding the materials being considered and the suppliers involved.

We appreciate your support and collaboration in this endeavor.

If you have any questions or need further information about our compliance process, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

Best regards,

Employee Spotlight

Hi, my name is Dave Seiler, or “Paws” as everyone here likes to call me. I am number three of ten kids and I was born in Wichita, KS. My family moved to Colorado when I was eight and my parents would eventually open their own restaurant, “The Big Cheese Pizza” where I worked for several years. I met my wife, Patti, on a blind date and we have now been married for 33 years and have 3 kids and 3 grandkids. We lived in Wisconsin for 17 years, taking care of Patti’s parents and then moved to Denver in 2017.

I have been employed by Western united Electric Supply for a little over 7 years, and I really enjoy having a great group of guys to work with. My boss is a real swell guy too most of the time! He likes to give me all the work though, but I know it’s only because I’m the best!
