Western United’s New Mission Statement
The Western United Board of Directors held its annual strategic planning session on January 25th, 2024. The focus of this year’s session was a review and update to Western United’s Mission Statement. The prior statement “To be the distributor of choice for all electric utilities in the Rocky Mountain Region” has become outdated and no longer defines the company’s vision for the future, its member base, territory nor the expanded roles we offer to our membership. The new Mission Statement was prepared with input from WUE management & staff and is:
“Serve as the trusted cooperative partner providing exceptional value through best-in-class products, services and innovative solutions”
The new Mission Statement provides more emphasis on being a cooperative business which focuses on its membership. It also expands beyond simply being a provider of products and includes the services and solutions the company now prioritizes.
The focus of the Strategic plan continues to be centered on three Guiding Principles:
Responsible GrowthEfficiency Preparedness
Details for each of these principles have been developed within the context of Serving our Membership. Responsible Growth was addressed from both Territory growth and new Products & Services. Efficiency improvements will continue to be driven through advancements in WUE’s IT department. The company‘s focus on preparedness will ensure that threats are minimized while we capitalize on opportunities throughout the industry. Our biggest opportunity will continue to be listening to our membership to understand their issues and needs in a rapidly evolving industry.
Be sure to visit with Western United at the TechAdvantage Expo held in conjunction with NRECA’s Power Exchange Conference in San Antonio. The Expo will be held March 1st through 6th. Western United will share a booth with our Electric Utility Distributors Association (EUDA) partners and we look forward to seeing you there.
