ONE STEP POLE GROUND ANNOUNCED BY THERMOWELD
Thermoweld, in partnership with a large cooperative in Texas, has designed and is the primary supplier of an improved pole ground plate. Plate P/N 38-5955, when installed as directed, eliminates the need to have a standard ground rod (and in fact has more surface area than a ground rod). It reduces installation time and grounding errors and also reduces ground impedance. It is made of 100% copper (measures 17” x 17”) and has a thermo welded #6 solid pigtail that is connected to the pole ground wire.
When the pole ground is used with ground enhancement material (also formulated and manufactured by Thermoweld) a significant reduction in ground resistivity is gained. Thermoweld’s GF Ground enhancement material comes in 25-pound bags and is poured directly into the pole hole (no tamping or premixing required). The material is carbon based (thus has high conductivity in wet or dry environments), contains a corrosion inhibitor to protect copper and has a long shelf life, has no hazardous chemicals and is environmentally friendly. It actually increases the surface area of the conductor it is encasing. This material is particularly effective in areas with difficult grounding issues.
Due to the increased demands that sensitive electronic equipment has for effective grounds, the Complete Thermoweld Grounding System can help protect a utility’s electronic equipment and their customer’s electronic equipment. Your WUE account manager can supply additional information on both products.
