WUE Update

The shortage of core steel continues to affect the lead-time on distribution transformers. It is reported that the worldwide demand for core steel is 1.6 million tons annually, however, there is only the capacity to produce 1.4 million tons worldwide. Current lead-time is running 30 to 40 weeks for transformers using M3 core steel. Some manufacturers are now offering M6 core steel because of better availability. M6 core steel is more expensive and increases the losses substantially. Lead time for transformers using M6 core steel is running 16 to 20 weeks.

Terry Most worked his last day at WUE on June 8th. Terry was a long-time employee, and will be missed by his co-workers and many friends in our industry. We all wish Terry many years of good health and joy in his retirement. Mr. Kent Davenport will take on the responsibility with the void created by Terry's departure. Kent will assume the position of Chief Operating Officer on July 1st. Kent has been with WUE for six years coming to us from the Hubbell Corporation where he spent 16 years.

Congrats Kent!
