TWO SOCKETS / TWO METERS

Two Sockets / Two Meters has been manufacturing their VT pack for quite some time. The VT Pack is used for any three-phase 480-V application. It provides for a safe way to install VT’s and assures that all wiring is correct while providing lightning protection for the meter. The VT pack is easily mounted inside the meter socket even on three phase URD transformers. The unit weighs only 15 lbs instead of the traditional 50 to 100 lbs that individual VT units can weigh. The unit also allows for ease of meter installation and removal. It has no effect on AMR systems.

Industry News

AB Chance (Hubbell) continues to introduce new products that provide better over voltage and over current protection schemes. Their new programmable resettable Sectionalizer operates in conjunction with a back-up automatic circuit recloser and has built-in intelligence to discriminate between temporary and permanent faults on single phase lateral lines. The unit fits into conventional cutouts and if it is installed at the start of a lateral (in place of a fuse) can greatly enhance system coordination, service continuity and reliability. Further the unit has programmable parameters: counts (1 - 4) actuating current, reset time as well as historical data storage for system overview and analysis. Available in 15kv, 25kv or 35kv for both non-load-break or load-break applications. ‘

Bierer and Associates is a long time OEM tool manufacturer to major utility suppliers.

They are now selling their tools directly through distributors!

One of their new tools is a wireless (cordless) phasing tool. The unit is easily adaptable for overhead or underground applications from 208V to 69KV (direct contact). It includes one reference probe (transmitter) and one meter probe (receiver) and has an easy to read digital display (also displays voltage).

See your WUE account manager for a demo or for more information on other Bierer products.

Maclean Power Systems has introduced a new “visual indicator” automatic splice for overhead lines. The new splice eliminates line pull outs caused by improper insertion of the overhead lines. Two patent pending pop-up tabs show a green clor when the line is properly inserted thereby alerting the line worker that the line has been successfully spliced. Various size splices accommodate #4 through 795 ACSR, AAC and AAAC conductor. Selected sizes in WUE stock.
